Wondering which type of massage is right for you? Curious about deep tissue, sports, or holistic massage therapy? Find answers to common questions about pain relief, emotional release, post-massage care, and more. Still unsure? Feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.

The right massage depends on your needs. If you’re looking for relaxation and stress relief, a Rebalance massage might be best. For muscle tension or pain relief, deep tissue or sports massage may be more suitable. If you have deeper issues, injuries, or chronic pain, we recommend booking with an Elite or Master therapist for specialized care. Please see our guide for all treatments here. If you’re unsure, you can book a free consultation.

At our practice in Amsterdam West, 60-minute massage treatments start at €94. We offer longer sessions and higher therapist levels for those seeking deeper expertise. Our therapist levels are Pro, Elite, and Master. View all massage rates and therapist levels here to choose the right session for your body and well-being.

  • Pro: Best for general tension, recovery from daily stress, and those new to therapeutic bodywork.
  • Elite: Recommended for recurring issues like ‘Tech Neck,’ shoulder impingement, or those needing deeper structural focus.
  • Master: Reserved for complex cases, including burnout recovery, trauma-informed somatic work, and long-standing chronic pain that hasn’t responded to traditional massage.

A Rebalance massage is our signature treatment, designed to restore harmony between body and mind. It combines deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, and intuitive touch to relieve tension, improve mobility, and support emotional well-being. An ideal choice for stress relief and restoring inner balance.

Holistic massage is more than relieving muscle tension, it’s about supporting the whole person. We focus on both body and mind, using targeted techniques to restore balance and mobility. But care doesn’t stop when your session ends.

To help you maintain these benefits, we’ve created our own magnesium and meditation products. They’re designed to support muscle recovery, ease tension, and bring moments of rest into your day. Simple, effective, and made for everyday well-being. Explore Rebalance at Home.

Our treatments, particularly the Rebalance Signature and Myofascial Release, are designed to shift the body from a sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state to a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state. By targeting the fascia and using rhythmic, intentional touch, we help improve vagal tone and release the physical ‘armor’ associated with chronic burnout.

To effectively resolve desk-related tension, we recommend a strategic approach using both Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release over a series of sessions. We use Deep Tissue to address specific muscle knots in the upper back and neck, while Myofascial Release is essential for stretching the ‘locked’ connective tissue in the chest and shoulders. This dual approach restores natural alignment and provides longer-lasting relief than a standard relaxation massage.

Lower back pain from sitting is often a result of ‘shortened’ hip flexors pulling on the lumbar spine. We recommend Deep Tissue Massage combined with Trigger Point Therapy to release the glutes and hips. For chronic cases, Myofascial Release is used to create space in the lower back fascia, reducing the ‘compressed’ feeling in the spine.

Yes. Jaw tension is often a physical ‘holding pattern’ for chronic stress. We recommend booking our Rebalance Facial Add-on in combination with a Myofascial Release or Signature Rebalance session. While the bodywork addresses the ‘fascial pull’ from the shoulders and neck, the specialized Facial Add-on targets the masseter and temporalis muscles (the primary chewing muscles) to directly alleviate clenching, pressure, and associated tension headaches.

Heavy or swollen legs are often a sign of sluggish lymphatic circulation or fluid retention (edema). Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is the specialized solution here. Unlike a muscle-focused massage, MLD uses ultra-light, rhythmic strokes to encourage fluid movement, reducing that ‘heavy’ feeling and supporting your body’s natural detoxification process.

Your safety is our priority. While our treatments are highly therapeutic, there are specific medical contraindications where massage may be unsafe or require a recovery period. Please review the following before booking:

  • Recent Dental Work (7 Day Wait): We recommend waiting at least one week after significant dental procedures (such as extractions, root canals, or implants). Increased systemic circulation from a Deep Tissue or Lymphatic session can interfere with localized healing or potentially spread bacteria released during the procedure.
  • Pregnancy Massage (from 13 weeks): To ensure the safety of you and your baby, we exclusively offer treatments starting from the second trimester. During the first trimester (weeks 1 through 12), the body and hormones undergo major changes, which is why intensive bodywork is discouraged during this early phase.
  • Acute Illness or Infection: Massage is strictly contraindicated if you have a fever, contagious illness, or active infection. Bodywork (especially Manual Lymphatic Drainage) stimulates the lymphatic system and can tax the body further during an acute immune response.
  • Serious Medical Conditions (Cancer, Heart Conditions, and Post-Op): For clients currently undergoing treatment for cancer (chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy), or those with uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart conditions, or recent major surgery, we require written clearance from your oncologist or healthcare professional before your session. This ensures that our techniques do not overtax your immune system or interfere with your clinical treatment plan.
  • Recent Surgery or Acute Injury: If you have had recent surgery, fractures, or acute muscle tears, please consult your doctor first. Once the acute inflammatory phase has passed and your physician has cleared you for manual therapy, we use Myofascial Release to help soften scar tissue and restore mobility. This helps the surrounding connective tissue stay flexible and prevents the “pulling” sensation often felt after an injury has healed.
  • Rebalance Facial Add-on: This specific treatment should be avoided if you have active skin infections, undiagnosed facial pain, or have had recent oral surgery.

Note: If you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for your current health status, please Contact Us before booking.

Make yourself at home! Please take off your shoes to keep the space peaceful. Feel free to pour yourself some water or tea and take a moment to relax before your session.

Deep Tissue work creates a localized inflammatory response as it breaks down adhesions. Your muscles need a 24-hour ‘recovery window’ to flush out metabolic waste and repair tissue. Engaging in intense exercise too soon can lead to over-soreness and diminish the structural changes achieved during the session.

The frequency of massage depends on your goals. For general wellness, once a month is ideal. If you’re dealing with chronic pain, stress, or recovery from an injury, weekly or biweekly sessions may be more beneficial. Your therapist can create a personalized plan for you.

Your therapist will discuss your needs, concerns, and any medical conditions before beginning the session. You’ll be guided on how to lie on the massage table and draped for privacy. The treatment will be adjusted to your comfort level, and you’re encouraged to communicate any preferences.

Please arrive 5 minutes early to settle in. We recommend avoiding heavy meals or excessive caffeine 2 hours before your session. For structural work like Deep Tissue or Myofascial Release, you will be draped securely with a sheet at all times, so you can undress to your comfort level (most clients leave their underwear on). If you are booking Lomi Lomi, the draping is more minimal to allow for long, flowing strokes, but your modesty is always strictly maintained.

Yes, mild soreness for 1–3 days after a massage is completely normal, especially if you received deep tissue or sports therapy. This happens because massage releases tension and breaks down adhesions in the muscles, similar to the soreness you might feel after exercise. Staying hydrated, taking a warm bath, and gentle stretching can help ease any discomfort. If soreness persists beyond three days, let us know.

Yes, it’s completely normal. Massage can release stored emotional tension, especially if stress, trauma, or memories are held in the body. The nervous system shifts from “fight or flight” to relaxation, which may bring emotions to the surface. If this happens, know that it’s a natural part of the healing process, and you are in a safe, supportive space.

Yes, it’s completely safe to receive a massage during menstruation. Some clients even find it helps relieve cramps and tension. Keep in mind that deep tissue work on the first day may feel more intense, so we can always adjust pressure or focus on a more relaxing approach to suit your needs.

Massage should never be unbearable. Some techniques, like deep tissue or trigger point therapy, may cause discomfort as tension is released, but we always work within your tolerance. Communication with your therapist is key—we adjust pressure as needed.

Our products are designed to support muscle recovery, enhance relaxation, and restore balance through natural, high-quality ingredients. Whether it’s magnesium for deep tissue repair, meditation cushions for posture support, or Palo Santo for energy cleansing, each item helps maintain well-being between bodywork sessions.

Magnesium plays a crucial role in muscle function, nervous system regulation, and stress reduction. Our Magnesium Massage Gel and Bath Salts allow for fast absorption through the skin, bypassing digestion for maximum bioavailability. This helps with muscle cramps, tension relief, and postural correction—perfect after deep tissue massage or physical activity.

Our Crescent Meditation Cushion is ergonomically designed to support natural posture and reduce strain on the hips and lower back. The Meditation Eye Pillow, filled with flaxseed and lavender, applies gentle pressure to release facial tension and promote deep relaxation—ideal for meditation, restorative yoga, or stress relief.

Palo Santo has been used for centuries in holistic healing and energy cleansing. The warm, woody aroma helps reduce stress, clear negative energy, and deepen meditation or breathwork practices. It’s a perfect complement to yoga, mindfulness rituals, and post-massage relaxation.

Yes! Our Palo Santo is sustainably harvested from naturally fallen trees, supporting fair trade and reforestation projects in Ecuador. We prioritize natural, eco-friendly materials in all our products.

Our magnesium products are made from 100% natural sources. While magnesium is generally well-tolerated, some people may experience mild tingling. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend doing a patch test before full application and rinsing off any excess residue if needed.

For best results, we recommend using Magnesium Massage Gel daily, especially after workouts or deep tissue treatments. Magnesium Bath Salts can be used 2–3 times per week to help with stress relief, sleep quality, and muscle recovery.
