Introducing Myofascial Release Massage at Rebalance: A New Layer of Healing

Table of contents

At Rebalance Massage Amsterdam, we believe in staying present with what people truly need. Our work continues to grow through experience, study, and connection with the body. With that intention, we’re now offering Myofascial Release Massage as a new treatment on our menu.

This technique offers a slower, deeper kind of restoration. It helps the body release long-held tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, and organ. Often overlooked, fascia can quietly store patterns of tension, trauma, or restriction. These restrictions can affect movement, breathing, posture, and even emotion.

What Is Myofascial Release?

Unlike traditional massage, Myofascial Release (MFR) does not follow flowing strokes across muscle groups. It uses gentle, sustained pressure on the fascial system, usually without oil. The intention is not to force release, but to wait and listen for it.

This is a slower and more intuitive process, requiring the practitioner to feel what is happening below the surface and respond with precision and presence.

What Can It Help With?

Myofascial Release can be supportive for:

  • Chronic pain or tension that hasn’t improved with other treatments
  • Limited range of motion or postural imbalances
  • Recovery from physical trauma or surgery
  • Emotional tension held in the body
  • Fatigue, stress, or nervous system overload

Because fascia is one continuous system, working in one area often has a ripple effect throughout the body. It helps bring back a sense of lightness and alignment.

A Treatment Rooted in Intuition and Anatomy

This treatment is offered by Sander Hoeksma, who trained in Myofascial Release with Maria Alfieris, a physical therapist and healer whose work blends medical knowledge with deep intuitive awareness. Maria teaches that hands can listen, and that the body often holds more wisdom than the mind.

Each session draws from that perspective. The focus is on supporting the body’s natural ability to unwind and reorganize, creating space for deeper connection and ease.

What to Expect

Your session may include:

  • Slow, sustained pressure into areas of tightness or restriction
  • Minimal or no oil so we can stay connected to the fascia directly
  • A quiet pace and deep focus
  • A sense of letting go that continues beyond the session

Many clients describe feeling lighter, more grounded, or more at ease afterward.

Is This for You?

This treatment may be a good fit if:

  • You’ve tried massage but still feel something is stuck
  • You experience tightness or pain that doesn’t have a clear cause
  • You are curious about the body’s deeper capacity for healing and awareness

Myofascial Release Massage supports change at the root level of the body.
